Todd Cordell: G3 Calgary Flames vs Los Angeles Kings: Tkachuk, Doughty go at it again

I like Doughty and he's proved himself in this league and has the hardware to show for it but definitely as time moves on and the older he gets...he seems more and more like that kind of guy that sits on his front porch with a bottle of Wild Turkey, and a shotgun yelling at anyone/amything to get off his lawn!

With Winnipeg paying their Forward group as if they need to win now but having a decimated D group do you guys think Tre could get Chevy to bite on a deal like:

Brodie
Frolik

for

Laine

Flames could put Andersson up with Gio and sign Macdonald (Or another FA out there) to a cheap contract to play with Kylington. I know I know 2 UFA's on expiring contracts for a potential NHL high end Sniper but if Big Buf retires I dont think there are too many teams that could offer up a top pairing guy that can play either side.

Chevy is in a very tough spot. Either he has to hope for his Defensemen to play better than they have ever showed or mortgage the future by trading their 1st round picks or to make a player trade.

Honestly Chevy's options will be who is offering the best anchor of a deal that could possibly help his team this year. Really Brodie with the possibility of extending him might be worth the gamble. Maybe not for Laine but an over payment of some kind.

IMO no chance Winnipeg even considers that deal. Valimaki or Anderson and a 1st would need to be part of the package before the Jets would consider moving Laine.

Jesus buddy, why would Jets take two older players that about to be UFA's for Liane?
The math works for us, Chevy would have security escort him to the door & & the airport before Jet fans lynch him. They would have to do the same for all his family too.

We arent getting much right now for either player, the returns will be better at the TDL or in January & even yet, they would probably be for futures.

We know the Jets desperately need top-four D-men. If Tre were to trade Brodie or Hamonic, then it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that the return for either of them could be a first and a second, or Roslovic and second. After all, Tre gave up a first and two seconds to get Hamonic (which really was a LOT more than Hamonic is worth. His value isn't worth more than a second and a third, IMO).

Hamonic might only be worth that now, not going to argue that, but at the time with 3 years at a decent contract, he was definitely worth the 1st and a 2nd. Sign him to a cap friendly contract and his value goes way up.
